Single Tooth Implant

Drs. Hamrick, McKenzie, Whitley and Woon have received specialized training in the treatment and management of dental implant cases and have placed thousands of dental implants.

Dental implants are titanium posts placed in the jawbone that are used to help replace single or multiple missing teeth. Dental implants are a highly successful and predictable way to replace missing teeth. Replacing missing teeth with dental implants allows you to return to the normal function, esthetics, and comfort that you had with your natural teeth. In addition, the implants never decay and are more resilient to infection in the gums because the implants are actually fused to your jawbone in a process called osseointegration. Replacing teeth with dental implants typically is the most esthetic way to replace teeth because it mimics natural teeth emerging from the gum.

When replacing a single tooth, placement of a dental implant prevents the preparation of adjacent teeth for a “bridge.” If you are replacing the last tooth in your jaw, a dental implant usually is the only option other than a removable partial appliance.

A consultation appointment will be used to evaluate if you are a candidate for dental implants and to discuss treatment options. Raleigh Periodontics utilizes CAT Scan technology to evaluate your jaw in three dimensions to facilitate treatment planning.

Typically, the dental implant is placed and allowed to heal for 2–4 months before you receive your final restoration from your dentist. During the healing phase we can help provide you with a temporary prosthesis so you never have to go without a tooth. We work closely with your restorative doctor to provide you with an esthetic and functional result.

“Your practice was chosen for me by both my dentist and endodontist because you are the best in Raleigh. I could not agree more. The kindness, caring and professionalism that I experienced at Raleigh Periodontics cannot be matched.”
