A native of Florida, Dr. Hamrick earned his DMD degree with honors from the University of Florida in 1978.

In 1986 he received his postgraduate degree in Periodontics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then founded Raleigh Periodontics and Implant Dentistry and practiced until his retirement in April 2025. Throughout his career he was also been an adjunct professor at the UNC School of Dentistry Department of Graduate Periodontics and was involved in mission work in Raleigh as well as in various countries outside the US. He has been married to his wife Lynne for over 46 years. They live in Raleigh where they raised their three children and are blessed with six grandkids. In his retirement, Dr. Hamrick enjoys attending UNC and Hurricanes sporting events, golfing, boating, and spending time at the North Carolina coast with his wife, Lynne.
