Dr. Woon was born and raised in Richmond, VA and graduated from the University of Richmond with a BS in biology.

He earned his DMD degree with honors from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and was selected into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society. During his time in dental school, Dr. Woon completed two certificate programs in dental public health and teaching.

After graduation, Dr. Woon moved to Chapel Hill to start his periodontology residency at the UNC Adams School of Dentistry and served as the Chief Resident during his second and third years. He graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a Master of Science and Certificate of Advanced Degree in Periodontology.  During his residency, he received extensive training in all aspects of treating periodontal disease, soft tissue defects, bone grafting, implant surgery, tooth autotransplantation, and treatment planning with digital technology.

Dr. Woon and his wife, Jessica, have two dogs that love long walks! In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and friends, traveling, hiking, and fishing.
